I have been offered this spange. The owner is looking for a MM on the back side, but I thought I would get initial thoughts please. I think the detail is a little soft on the feathers and I understand that the larger pocket between the head and wing on the right is also a problem area. Ribbon also looks pretty fresh.Click image for larger version.

    Hi Al,

Looking good to me. The obverse matches well although a better close focussed shot of the eagles head would help. I especially like the markings on the prongs on the reverse, that's a good sign. L/53 (Hymmen & Co.) are considered very uncommon spanges, and as such are quite desirable.

    Regards, Ned.

We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
