2nd Klasse Eisernes Kreuz with Ribbon original?

Hey Guys,
I'm getting into the medals and decorations side of Third Reich collecting. I'm interested in purchasing this 2nd Class iron Cross w/ ribbon. I'm not sure if its original or not. If not could you guys give me a clue what to look for when purchasing medals?

Now how was this award displayed like this? The ribbon seems to short to do anything with doesn't it? Was this used on a uniform at all?

A nice original Berg & Nolte EK2.
Only a piece of the ribbon was worn on the uniform.

Thanks! What woud the person who was awarded this do with the cross? Just keep it in there pockets and display the ribbon?

The ribbon would be cut down from the full length, with part of it just long enough to sew through the buttonhole of the tunic. The rest could be used to court mount the medal on a bar or just kept with the medal at home or wherever the recipient kept it.

There is some information regarding wearing medals in this thread, on the second page. It deals with the wearing of the KVK2 but the same things apply to the EK2.
