Just added this lovely mysterious cross.

A few collectors think it is a Ferdinand Hoffstaetter as one or two marked 8's have cropped up with the same detail and characteristics but the jury is out !

    A quality EK2 imo

    Opinions welcome

    Ahhh.... that brings back memories!

Not the exact same cross, but my first ever TR EK2 was one of these!!
I sold it at one stage and ended up spending a lot more to replace it.

They are a great looking cross, but they must be more plentiful than thought
because the beading on one I originally had was shot to hell.
Almost as if the die was completely worn out.

It's funny though, I had that one for years and never saw another (and not for want of searching), but lately (the past 2 years or so), they have been appearing more often.

Strange how certain EK's appear in cycles - I remember when a marked '21' EK2 didn't seem all that unusual.... been looking for one recently?

Anyway, another great cross in your collection Nick,

It's a beauty, for sure! Like Roger, can't help with the maker. I really enjoy some mystery too, Nick

    Thanks guys!

@Danny, there were two for sale on WAF this week. This one is from Michal (Plaut) and Trevor had one for sale too!

    Nice example you have

    Nick,
That cross I posted was the one I sold ages ago. I posted it so that you could see the extensive die wear on the beading.
It's replacement (with no wear) is still safely in my collection.
    Regards - Danny
