Battle found relic- Spange zum Eisernen Kreuzes 1er Klasse.
Good evening, gentleman.
Would like to show You one of my newest additions- Spange zum Eisernen Kreuzes 1er Klasse. I believe it is made by L/18, B.H. Mayer, Unmarked, No Veins. If I am wrong please correct me.
It is ground dug, in very nice condition. It was found together with three EK2 spange's and many other interesting things. Catch was damaged/flatten,but I managed to partly repair it. Hope You will enjoy this beautiful battle relic, at least I do, for me these ground dug/been there/seen it things ( if they are in good condition ) have more character and charisma in them, than the minty/unissued awards.
Regards,
Peter

A very nice example for a ground dug Peter!
You can compare with my example on post #29 in the data base. 1939 Spange zum Eisernen Kreuzes 1er Klasse 1914
I agree with your statement about the ground dug examples having more character but, if you are not able to dig them, the "minty/unissued" pieces will do.
Congrats!
Ralph.

Very sweet find. And with all the others being found together it gets you thinking as to why? Were they stripped off of the uniforms and discarded before surrendering? Or something else?
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Good morning.
Yes, MAP, they are found in the area where germans surrendered in early may of 1945.
Thanks and regards,
Peter
