The swastika looks very oddly proportioned, almost as if it's 'melting' to the left. I do see what look like rust veins under the black paint, but that alone is no indication of authenticity. Wait for the experts in this field to chime in.

It appears to have an 8 stamped on the ring which would be for the maker Ferdinand Hoffstädter.

I think your cross could be a Souval piece. I'm not very expert in Iron Cross Identification but it looks as though it could be a poorly stamped 98 on the ring.

Yes, a good '98' marked Souval EKII.
Personally, my least favourite maker - never liked them aesthetically.
