Excellent news, thanks Nick.

It is a Souval but whether it was made before May 1945 is a bit of a judgement call.
I'm not keen on it being wartime produced from the look of the reverse. The blobs of solder and the finishing of it don't give me a good feeling. I personally don't like the overal 'look' of the piece.
Others may disagree but as I said, an individual judgement call and I wouldn't be happy with it in my collection.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Um, thanks for that Adrian, I have now asked for a side view from the left hand edge of the reverse to see if that will shed any more light on manufacture.

I will agree with Adrian, i just dont like the look of it, i would wait for another. But thats just me ive attached some pics of my souval for comparison
Would like to hear from anyone else, as from what I can see, it may not be a Souval then as that seems questionable, (there are how many makers?) and there's a solder spat on the back, which considering they did most of the soldering by hand (is it possible?).
It looks like a 3 part construction and has a magnetic centre.
Hey, come on guys, have to question it.
Not so long ago something was said to be genuine only to be dismissed by others and then the same person that said yes. It can work both ways.
But, if I have what I think is compelling evidence either way then I will confirm to my other party.
