It's a decent example Nick. Lots of spidering under the paint on the core and this perhaps is a late war produced piece judging by the multiple die flaws on the beading, the die seems to have been very worn.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I like it. Full of character with these veins and patina.
It 's not so hard to find this worn frame on Meybauers, I sold one screewback recently like this (more or less).
Hi Nick, Im not all familiar with all the different makers but I like it! I like new ones and unissued EK's of course but issued and worn examples are my favorites...They have a storey behind them of the act done by the soldier it was issued to and who wore it with pride of his accomplishments above and beyond the call of duty! This cross, to me appears to be one of those examples.

Yes the die flaws are prominent! As the spidering is caused by rust, is there a chance the rust could break through ? I suppose it is how and where the cross is stored.

I think that if you store it with others 'll happen anything.
