The red ink stamp roughly says "Only to be opened by the award winner".
Cheers, Ade.
thank you ,Ade ,so what you thinking about this envelope ? good repro or niece piece of history ?
I am a little curious also, does someone have an opinion of this envelopes originality?

This, IMO, is a well known fake packet. The font on the front is a match to these well known fakes as is the seam on the left. Most (but certainly not all) original packets had the seam on the right. The stamp on the front regarding the award winner looks like an enhancement that I've never seen on any original award packet to date and the Godet makers stamp on the reverse is not like any I've come across from this maker.
Interesting, Thanks for the info.

It's not an original packet that i'm familiar with. I'm not keen, sorry. Stewy S
I have another thread regarding the EK2 envolope i aquired, i have been informed that my particular envelope is most probably a fake, but i see that you mention the seams on an orginal are normally on the right, on the reverse side the seam is on the right, could this be a unusual original or a good attempt at trying to make a replica.
Your envelope looks in the sort of condition you would expect it to be in for its age, DAMN THESE FAKES.
The above envelope is indeed a poor fake. I agree with the comments made
by moderator Adrian. The first packet probably fools a lot of collectors.
Below, a handwritten 'Uffz.' (Unteroffizier) named envelope, stamped in a
similar way. On the reverse is the maker: 'Klein & Quenzer - Oberstein'.
Comments welcome...............

I shall go hide in a hole until the shame of owning a poor fake wears off ha ha
