EK2 Ribbon sizes, what are your thoughts?

I received a medal today with the 25cm ribbon and not the usual 30cm size.

Just curious do you think they were made for buttonholes or Schinkels?

The theory is that the thinner ribbons were used for the Schinkel crosses and most collectors subscribe to it. I have no idea if it's true or not and it will be hard to say one way or another because ribbons and crosses have been swapped around for the last 70 odd years. I'm sceptical of the theory although my Schinkel crosses all have the thinner ribbon.
Don't forget, it's only us collectors who identify the variations in EKs. As far as I know, before May 1945 there were no Schinkels, Ubergrosse, wide frame etc...... they were just EKs, so to think the ribbon producers made a special ribbon for a certain EK variant is a bit unlikely IMO.

My EK and KVK ribbonbars are all made from 25mm ribbon if it helps.......

One of my EK2's has the thinner ribbon,i'm not sure who the maker is though. I'll have to dig it out & check. Stewy

a couple of questions that maybe helps to answer on this theme.
was the 25 mm ribbon used to award 1813, 1870, 1914 EKIIs ? ... sorry no.
is there a reason to change this traditional rule ? .. in my opinion no.
