    Thanks Nick!

    Imperial: 'G', 'S'

    TR: '4', u/m '7', '13', u/m '60', '65', '93', '100', Moritz Hausch?

57ers: all S&L made pieces, except for the tri-fold (K&Q).

    Hello there,

Interesting idea for a thread. Collecting EK's is quite an interesting subject in my opinion. Several collectors actually collect by maker as truly some pieces are works of art. I started collecting them when I acquired one I had to have another....

I personally don't collect by maker specifically, though it is nice to have an uncommon variant. I truly appreciate the visual appeal of an Iron Cross, it is simplistic in design and yet holds such a strong history. I am most interested in the heroism and honor that was behind the award, as it truly was a combat-awarded medal for valor. The mint ones that sat in a box for the duration of the war don't do it for me - I go for the patina and the wear and tear from seeing the battlefields of WWII.

To each their own, and either way - once you have one you can't only have just one!

A sample from my personal collection...

I was in high school , more then 20 years ago , when a class mate brought in a EK1 screw back ! I bought it off him for 5$ ! He started my collection and brought me several other badges Blockade runner , Tank and Infantry assault etc and I bought them all . And I still have the EK's and always will ! But I only have 5 or 6 but its enough for now , if I could find them for 5$ I'd have a hundred .
    Cheers Chris
