How do the fakers age the metal like that? do they corrode it with acid or what? Or maybe this is an older fake?

I've heard that ammonia can age metal. It is found in urine............

In the past, I too have been caught off guard and ended up with a Fake
Iron Cross 1st class. It doesn't take long to figure out what to look for
    - to learn what is real - and then which 'dealers' to steer clear of !
    Regards,

They have lots of tricks with different chemicals, naturally acidic juices, heat, and who knows what else. The morally bankrupt troglodyte forgers keep improving their craft. Absolutely repugnent beasts! O.K. I'll stop now.

Hey Dean, looks like you got bit on this one. Join the club, happens more than some like to admit.

I post a lot of things here for opinions and, though some people are a bit more brutal than others when it comes to fakes, I still appreciate the honest feedback as I'm sure you do. Overall, the most obvious things are the beading on the front (the inside corners especially), and on the back the "pebbling" should not be there (should be smooth), the hook is completely incorrect (style and shape), and I don't believe this style pin was ever used on EKI's... others may correct me on this.
