Iron Cross Second Class

Article about: For \\$135, does this look like a good deal to you. And in your opinion does it look authentic to you. I ask because I'm a beginning collector and we all had to start somewhere.

Also, What does a "normal" Iron Cross 2nd class go for. Nothing in perfect condition, but not a complete junker.

Hi, it looks "OK" to me, but I would like to know if it is maker marked?

As to price, that seems to me to be rather high? I would not expect to pay more that $100 maximum, which is £70 here in the UK. Hopefully others will comment here who are more versed in current dealers prices.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hello,
I bought one with ribbon in the UK a couple of years ago for £12.00. It has no makers mark. The company which I buy from always states if a repro. Mine is not attracted by a magnet so I can only assume that these second class ones were made in large numbers. Are the first class silver surround ones actually made of iron?
    regards,
    navyman.

    hello

12ponds isnt mutch for a real one but normally the black center is magnetic unless the center is made out of coper or other material
coper ones were made for the kriegsmarine and a few ended up at the army.

the first class one has 3 pieces black center is iron/coper
and the rest is berliner silber

    cheers

    Thank you for your reply,
I don't want to scratch it to test for copper but it weighs 30 grams. Can you explain berliner silver?
    Regards,
    navyman.

    hi

normal weight for an second model is 18 to 25 gram
overweight comes at 25 so yours is a fat one
really nice i must say because you dont see those fast

berliner silver is an alloy whit a silver finish
    or as we say silvered

but i would love to see better pics of the details of the above cross
to be shure and maker mark
