Hello guys, I know somebody who paid a lot of money for this award for re-sale. I am not too confident about it. The ribbon looks new, the '1939' script looks odd and the beading around the cross appears to be soft. But that is just my opinion, what do you guys think about it?

Hello Glen,

Your suspicions were correct, it is indeed a very poor fake.

The combination of a badly mis-stamped and badly cut frame, extremely high oese, overall poor assembly and not to mention the fact that the details do not match any known originals, are all dead giveaways of this fake.

Did the buyer not do any research at all before parting with a substantial sum?
(or were they just blinded by greed at the thought of a tidy profit upon resale?)

I hope it can be returned.

Unfortunately Danny is spot on with his analysis. This is a fake and the buyer got stitched up.
