Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I agree with Gary, looks like its been coloured with a marker or paint
Yes, it is overpainted for sure. What are the measures in millimeters of that cross? Maybe it is just a EKII modification?
anyone care to comment on the large difference in how low the dates sit when obverse is compared to reverse?
Your right! Did not clue into that
there's variance, or course, with respect to the distance between the date and frame from cross to cross, but i was wondering if anyone has seen this kind of variance within the same cross.
Sorry can't be bothered to give my opinion to those phtos !!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
This is an interesting cross. A forgery but certainly interesting.
Further to the observations above.
Looking closely at the frame although both the obverse and reverse dies show some similarities there are I believe some marked differences, indicating to ME that there are two dies in use.
I wonder where this one originates it is not a quality fake I am familiar with.
