Hey guys, i believe this an original Iron Cross, but i am no expert with Iron crosses! I picked this up really cheap off a guy who inherited it. So let me know what ya think , real or repro?

Hello, i am not an expert but it sure looks fine to me. Wait for more replies from experienced members who can ID the maker too. Can you define cheap please?

I like the look of it and would buy it if the price was right. Adrian or Sunni will probably be the official to say it and can tell the maker. EK2 specialist
Looks okay to me. Could be an S&L frame, but wait for Adrian or Nick etc for the maker
Thanks guys, Ade is a definite "go to guy", lol ....... the finish in the center is almost gone, not as black as the photos idicate...... a shame, but if this is an original, the price was right.
It looks ok to me. The core isn't like any S&L I'm familiar with and the pics are too blurred to make out any frame details - any chance of some clearer pics please? I'll see if I can match the core when I get home - unless anyone else can identify it?
One other point I think is worth mentioning - in my opinion this is a good example of what can go wrong when you attempt to clean an EK or any award for that matter. To me it looks like a previous owner had tried to clean the medal and used something abrasive or corrosive on the core or even just put too much elbow grease into it and stripped the paint from the core. The result is a ruined EK and a loss in value.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Very interested to hear the results! I guessed at an S&L frame (even w/ blurred pics) because of the corners......but thats exactly why my opinion was to wait for you Adrian! haha I guess it wouldnt even be fair to guess without better pics anyway, so my bad!
Hey everyone, thanks for all the help! I will try and post some better pics today, my camera crapped out on me, so the pics are from my Droid. I agree, it is too bad the previous owner tried to clean the medal! Is there anyway to restore or fix the core? If not, it will have to stay this way, i still think it's pretty cool and a great piece of history!
Personally i would leave it as it is. It's your call though.
