    Guys

It it usual then for the 1813 date to be so low down compared to the date on the obverse? I dont think I have seen that before. Is it a manufacturers flaw?

You find this on some crosses Nick, take a look at my marked '19' below for example. The reverse date is very low, almost touching the beading, I have several EKs in the collection with low reverse dates.

The suspender ring on mine doesn't have a stamp...should this be a concern?

No concern at all as many makers didnt stamp their earlier crosses.

Correct me if I am wrong Adrian

No need, you're quite right. The topic of what was marked and when it was marked is the subject of many debates but basically an unmarked EK is completely normal and I would suggest there are more unmarked than marked crosses.
Some makers didn't mark their crosses at all - Paulmann & Crone is a prime example.

So...just to recap...the Eisernes Kreuz has a possibility of being authentic, but the box is a repro..?

Well...that's better than what I have been doing so far.

To confirm, the EK is definitely original, the box is not.
