    heres an odd setup i picked up ww1 ek1 & ribbon bar for ek2 & war hindenburg or war merrit w/swords??

    Original 1914 EKII and the ribbon is for the "so called" Hindenburg Cross.

    Also known as the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer 1914-1918.

    What you have is a WWI EKII and a ribbon bar which represents it, as well as the
    commemorative Hindenburg Honour Cross w/swords for combattants.

    Both Ade and Adrian are correct. Nothing 'odd' about these two medals
    being together though - it is probably the most common WWI
    combination - but this was only during and after 1934
    when the Hindenburg Cross was instituted.

    would this have been worn ? it was as on piece and i did not put the cross on the ribbon bar.
    who knows what soldiers did with their awards. but it looks nice

    I got the feeling you got them attached as one piece, but no - they are
    two singular items - probably to keep them together and prevent them
    being separated. The ribbon bar was worn to show the soldier
    was in posession of the full size medal awards.
