    I know that feeling; abandonded houses in the middle of nowhere, that give you the creeps.
    Had it the other day while detecting in the woods on my own, wearing a headphone doesn't help either as it isolate's all the sounds around you.

    About 150 metres up the hill, on the opposite side of the Ambleve to the Trois Ponts-Stavelot road.....

    My recent trip to the Ardennes provided another 'Then & Now' opportunity which seems topical with the recent publication of Timo Worst's book. Anyhow, it's associated to the subject of this thread so I thought I'd add it here.

    The place is the tiny hamlet of La Vaulx Richard above Stavelot. Look at the background in the famous photo of Leidreiter and Knittel and several reference points remain to this day - something which makes visiting the area endlessly fascinating.....
