This is Fort Stevens in Oregon near my moms house. It was used during WW2 to defend the opening of the Columbia river from the Japanese. The fort was shelled at least once by a Japanese submarine during the war. I took these pictures when I visited in July, 2008.

Hi Joel, thanks for posting these. I had not heard of this fort before. The place looks well preserved and nicley looked after which is great to see.

The 2.5 ton truck on display is a post war example though. But the Jeep is wartime.

    Cheers, Ade.

The 2.5 ton truck is from 1952 if I'm not mistaken. It still runs and is used to give tours of the fort. They load up visitors in the back of the truck, and guides dressed in era uniforms drive the visitors around and give a talking tour.
