Gordon Highlanders group, Aberdeen
You may be interested in this modern military sculptured group which was erected in Aberdeen (Scotland) in October 2011. It shows two Scottish Gordon Highlanders, one from the 19th century, the other a soldier on duty in Northern Ireland. We have all seen older statues, etc celebrating the military, but it is nice to see a brand new group being commissioned in this day and age. I am not an expert on 19th century uniforms but the 1970s - 1980s soldier is carrying a L1A1 SLR and wearing a flak jacket Note, also, the 'NI gloves'. Well done to the local Aberdeen council for remembering its local regiment.

What a fine statue.
I think the earlier uniform is from the Waterloo era

Graet works.
Public displays of a nations military past and present speaks well of it's people.
