It took some time but I finally made it to the cemetery. With Christmas a few days away I went to visit the graves of my mothers parents (my grandparents) and her grandparents. After visiting with grandma and pop-pop, I traveled two sections south and one section to the east, to section W where I walked the rows until I found the final resting place of Sgt Henry Gunter, claimed to be the last soldier killed in The Great War. I was going to take a small American flag or something else appropriate, but in the haste of packing the little one in the car I completely forgot . I'll remember next time.
May Sgt Gunther rest in peace, surrounded by his family.
