I have a Red star researched to a guards Sgt for action around Dukla he was initially nominated for the Order of Glory. Its one of my favorite items.
amazing photos.thanks for posting them
What an amazing area... easily one, if not THE best war memorials I've ever seen. It's awesome, and almost eerie to see those tanks sitting in a setting that represents what they actually experienced in combat. It looks like they're still driving around on those fields, scanning for enemy tanks to fire upon.
I notice you did'nt find this, in the middle of a housing estate in Svidnik.
Wikimapia - Let's describe the whole world!
I have visited this area and the other side in Ukraine, in several bars I visited there were relics hanging on the walls and soviet war memorials everywhere.
Great pics and info of an amazing site. Got to be worth a visit one day if I can.
Regards,
Jerry
Whatever its just an opinion.
An amazing and though provoking war memorial. The first thing that comes to mind is seeing all the overgrown weeds half covering the tanks and plaques, but on thinking further, this seems somehow appropriate and right....Distant memories of a time of Hell on Earth....
