The recently opened "On The Streets of the Protectorate" exhibition within the Army Museum in Prague, although fascinating in its entirety, has a section related to SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS und Polizei Karl Hermann Frank, who held the most powerful official position in the Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren by 1943. The focus in question, which garners patent interest due to the individual concerned, the nature and scale of his crimes and ultimately, his death, features items such as those pictured below:

    1) The ocular prosthesis of Karl Hermann Frank

    2) Frank's field blouse, worn during his execution - note that all honour and insignia markings were removed prior to his hanging. The manufacturer was Kučera of Prague

    3) Passport issued in 1944, which, along with other pictured items, is currently on loan from the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec. The entries translate as follows:

Occupation - German Minister of State for Bohemia and Moravia
Birthplace - Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary, Cz.)
    Date of Birth - 24th January 1898
    Place of Residence - Prague
    Build - Tall
    Face - Elongated
    Eye Colour - Blue
    Hair Colour - Dark Blonde
Special Features - left blank (no mention of his glass eye)

    4) Watch worn by Karl Frank

A very "different" exhibit that glass eye! The exhibition though as a whole sounds very interesting Carl, good to see that museums are "sharing" their resources to create a more complete picture of the history involved. Leon.

I probably will not watch it Bob, but I to am always happy to see a mass murderer and torturer of not only innocent Jewish citizens, but also many other nations dealt the justice they quite rightly deserved! Leon.

What make and model watch is that, I wonder? What did someone with almost unlimited power have for a watch? Interesting. It doesn't look particularly classy or prestigious...

I don't recall the brand name and the image is not the clearest...personally, I know next to nothing about watches whether they be of the period or of the modern time...perhaps it was a family heirloom or even a gift..?..who knows..?
