Hi everone, inspired by FB's recent thread showing SS honour guards in Munich, I thought I would show some pictures, including some of those same areas today, along with some other contemporary pictures.
I visited Munich in 2009 and 2011 and took these comparison pictures.
First of all, The Fuhrerbau and Ehrentempel. For those unfamiliar, this area (collectively the Konigsplatz) was the nerve centre of National Socialist Munich, here was the Fuhrers building, (Fuhrer Bau) the Nazi National headquaters (Braunes Haus) and the honour tempels (Ehrentempel) which were the structures in which those killed in the Beer Hall Putsch were interred. In front of these buildings was a parade ground.
Today, the Fuhrer Bau and the base of the Honour Tempels survives, as well as the pre-nazi buildings visible behind the parading policemen.
