My visit to Northern France, WW1 sites and a mad dash around Europe in a day including Malmedy!

Article about: I'm just back from a very short break to Northern France, an area I have never visited before. I had two full days to pack in as much as possible and I think I achieved my goal! This thread

    Gents,
Last week I visited the Malmedy museum in the Ardennes and took a few shots of the SS uniforms on display there. If you're interested they are on page two of this thread.
Amazing photos Adrian, a great trip indeed.
In the ww1 display, why didnt they have any portuguese uniforms or items??
    Cheers.

There is a good episode of "Time Team" devoted to the Livens projector.

    Cheers, Ade.

There are many memorials and cemeteries to all nations and also many museums I didn't visit. I didn't have time to go everywhere and take photos of everything so please don't think every other nation has been ignored because I know they haven't.

What a Great journey you took Adrian! Thanks for sharing these for people like me who have never been. The weapons display in the first museum reminded me of photos of Ade's collection! lol

I really cannot get over the rows and rows of graves at all of the sites you visited. It hits home hard enough just seeing photos, but I can only imagine seeing them firsthand. One thing I can say as an LCO....is that I am happy to see how well they actually maintain these cemeteries. Shows great respect IMO.

The Malmedy museum/tour was my favorite, and I think that you described the "dark room displays" on the front very well. The effects must have made it much more realistic. Scary stuff hearing night-time accounts of the Ardennes/etc. I dont blame anyone for being trigger-happy
