Normandy Lane. Then and Now.

These photo's were taken near Necy South East of Falaise. The destroyed German columns were seeking escape from what later became known as the Falaise Pocket. It's poigniant to note that some vehicles were traveling up the road and others down giving the impression of confusion nobody knowing the best way to escape. It's believed that aircraft the dreaded Jabos knock it them out. Original photo's were taken 21st Aug 1944.

There was a guy (French I think) who did some amazing montages of then and now pics that were on the net a while, really amazing stuff.

I found the montages; As described in a story from the Daily Mail, Dutch historian Jo Teeuwisse discovered 300 negatives in a flea market and began to research the sites of the photos. This photo shows soldiers on Avenue de Paris in Cherbourg in 1944. There is only ten dairly amazing pics, it would be interesting to find out if he did all 300 of them, if that was even possible.
