In addition to Luckystrike I add some pictures I made on this weekend driving to a militaria-market in La Gleize.
I followed the old road via Stavelot to Trois-Ponts:

    Looking for bridges westwards

    The famous actor

On 18. Dec. Peiper entered Stavelot

but had no luck withe the bridge there

A later picture with american medics in Stavelot

His headquarter in Ferme Antoine in the middle of Stavelot and Trois-Ponts

He tried to reach the next bridges in Trois-Ponts

But the bridge there was destroyed to and he decided to enter the direction to
the lovely little village La Gleize:

You can see the tents of the militaria-market in the main-road of the village

No longer it rests so peaceful

    It was badly damaged

and 130 vehicles were left there

Here on the left side of the picture you can see the Werimont-Farm where Dollingers King-Tiger 213 was left in 22. dec. 44:

In 1945 the Americans towed him down to the little village:

and he rests there until 1951

when the belgian army moved him towards the museum:

and welded its gun with a Panther-Piece from one of the famous M10 Panthers of Skorzeny

In our days he was painted fresh after original camouflage-sheme:

look at my OppaN in his General-Trousers

    Some Pics of the market:

    A nice little Werfer

    Lovely restored Kettenkrad

A little NSU prewar, often requiered from the Wehrmacht

    Another Kettenkrad entering the main-road

Just a little bit of painting, a new battery and front-tire

a new opel-engine and perhaps ready to go

    A big Panther-Wheel

    A gun-holder out of earth

    Some WH-Rockers

And an old belgian WH-Bike which ended its career in speedway

    Back to the roots:

    German muscle-Bikers

And a small german civilian bike too, pressed into service

    Now and than Kübels

    Jeepnies

German Lager with reenactors from Alsace

    Nice Cap

    German Glas-Mine

Drinking beer and eating saucisses(Ohne Mampf kein Kampf)

    Drainage into the funny WCs

From Peipers Headquarter in La Gleize

he decided to make two Spähtrupps:

to reach vers Cheneux the little bridge of Neuf-Moulin

but the american Pak was to strong

    and to enter Stoument

    with its Sanatorium

    where he left a Wirbelwind

    and here our trip ended

    enjoy

    Greetings

    Axel

Greetings again to you Axel, what a great trip you had that sale of militaria looks great, so many rare and wonderful pieces of equipment and all in its original setting.
I love all the period pictures you've included, there are many that I've never seen before, so it has been a great treat to go through them all one by one.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post them.
    Best Wishes
    LUCKYSTRIKE

The picture with the two STG 44s and the Panzerfaust, is the German soldier missing his boots? Or am i totally wrong here?

    Yes, they are missing.
This was a very cold and snowy winter in the Ardennes.
The German didn't have enough boots, often only shoes for the soldiers and so they took away american boots or german boots from the dead soldiers.
Even the civilians took away boots and other things.

American soldiers sometimes wear german boots but normally they were afraid to do so, because they thought that they were shot in case of capture from Waffen-SS soldiers.

ÄHM??? Do you need my glasses. I c'ant see a Panther, only a TigerII.

Nobody killed him, he killed itsself.

Mister Dollinger and his crew had to leave him.

    Greetings

According to the excellent ss501panzer.com, this is what happened to Tiger 213 and others on 22 December 1944.

I've refrained from copying and pasting his text as the author discourages it but the explanation's in the fourth paragraph. The site really is worth a visit though.
