As we moved down the road, there were large underground bunkers for the vehicles as well as deep trenches cut where vehicles could be driven and camo'ed up.

Interesting pics. Nice farm too.
Sadly my camera started to play up and all the other pics I took here turned out very blurred
So I will just show a few more, training MPi and bayonet training MPi.

Thanks Scout.
The farm is a big work in progress: as Bee & Tim were going to have new heating fitted, this meant a trench needed to be dug from the farm house to one of the barns. So yours truly got stuck in and lifted the granite stone blocks and dug this trench. (Why do I always end up digging? I do enough at work and re-enactment events LOL!) But I was rewarded with cold beer! Tim made me wear his BD blouse. By sundown the pipes and electrical cable was half in place.

Coming back from Kossa, we called in at Colditz as it was only 5km from the road home. So I got a few pics of the castle by night. But much more of Colditz later, as I am getting ahead of myself.

Our next port of call was Torgau. This is where US and Soviet Forces linked up on the Elbe River in 1945.
The place is fantastic! Very under rated and I suspect unheard of by most non Germans or anyone who is not interested in WW2?
Here is the Soviet Memorial to the link up besides the river. The top of the memorial is a load of stacked Mosin rifles in stone. Lez and Bee just happened to have some US/Soviet kit with them.

Another memorial is opposite this in true Stalinist style, which dates from DDR times, thanking the Soviet forces for liberating them..
