I watched it, and yes, it was a real mess based on bad decisions, but what I did'nt understand was how a senior officer with a proven brain tumour, was allowed to make such important decisions and especially when his indecision even when told by his advisors that there were no capitol German ships in the area, resulted in doubts amongst his other officers, the old boy should have been put behind a desk for the duration, also the disgraceful behaviour of the British government for only giving out lapel pins then further indignations since that time until some Whitehall waller decided to listen and grant the Arctic medal, but by now most of the crews had passed away, not one of our finest hours

The other thing that was shocking, though I already knew about this, was that when merchant marine crew had their ships sunk from under them their wages were stopped until next (if ever) they joined another ship. What a b#stard thing to do to them, never mind the Arctic Star which was another disgrace.

Even if the Tirpitz was steaming towards the convoy the RN should have faced it head on ! Wasn't that theirr role after all ??

We were taught at Sandhurst that health is so important to the decision making process! The real discussion should be how he was still in command, was his Tumour known or not?

A tragedy for all in the convoy and their families.
