Very similar in design to Rene,s fort is Newhaven fort in sussex, england.
A victorian fort that saw much up dating for ww2,its open as an attraction and has a collection of militaria and local ww2 artifacts.
As well as a gun battery it was home of HMS Aggressive a land based station for RAF mtb,s,and some paintings are still on the walls done by the crews billeted there.
HMS newt [landing craft squadron] was based in newhaven and a seaplane base of which its hanger still survives but now errected in wimbledon as a storage shed.
A nice day out for all military fans.
