Stalingrad Battlefields !!

Over the last ten years or so I have been fortunate enough to visit Stalingrad on a number of occasions involved in or guiding Battlefield Tours and have posted some photos on various areas of the site.

Much can still be seen of one of the greatest battles in History if you know where to look and the vastness of the Russian steppe and the conflict which happened here is still something to take the breath away.

As such I will post a few photographs from my tours to give you an idea of and a feel for the city now.

23/8/1942 First view of the Volga for the Aufk Abt of 16 Panzer Divison at Rynok .

Soviet units who put up such fierce resistance to prevent the German advance in August 1942.

Memorials on the Don Steppe to commemorate the fighting to defend Stalingrad it'self at Sukhaya Mechetka gully where now stands the Soldiers Field memorial and Hill 137.5.

By early September 48 Panzer Korps have attacked Stalingrad from the southern Kalmuk Steppe and fighting is going around the famous Grain silo and the Southern rail station.

A Statue of a Soviet marine now stands guard outside the Silo.

Locations in the city centre , evidence of the Battle is everywhere !!

Hi Paul, one of your tours to Stalingrad is definitely on my bucket list. I bet it's kind of chilling to enter the city, knowing the savage history of the battles fought there. I can't even imagine walking the path of the soldiers near the tractor factory, Pavlov's house, the Central Station. The list goes on and on. As I said before, you're living the dream my friend. More, more, please post more pictures! I guess you were posting more pictures as I was typing this. I'd still love to see as much as you can post.

The church at Golobinskya on the west bank of the Don , location of 6th Armee HQ prior to the 19th Nov 1942.

i would love to go and i reckon my dad would also, his wife is russian and were both military mad.
do your tours cater for disabled?
he would need proper handles on toilet and bath
