A trip to Berlin in 2005

Article about: Here we have the large air raid bunker to be found at Anhalter. Note the bomb damage! The remains of the railway station, scene of heavy fighting, is now being preserved. The bunker is open

    A really good thread Ade, thanks for sharing this. I went a "few" years ago, and was amazed at the battle damaged houses still showing their scars in the former east. I felt very humble there.



    I believe they have a "starbucks" overlooking the Brandenberg gate now?......................

    Hi Guys, thanks as always for the comments and extra pics

    I have a few more to share and had intended to post them last night but a friend came over bearing daggers, so I got distracted.

    Here we have a couple of reminders of the horrors that befell Berlin's Jewish population. Taken in the Spandau area.

    Museum set up in a former US barracks dedicated to post war Berlin.

    The engine block is from an FW190.

    The warning signs re guard dogs and keep out were "liberated" from Spandau Prison after Rudolf Hess died.
