Chris, they frequently show up on E-Bay of all places, usually ground dug, but still in remarkable condition, complete with little hinged covered shooting hole for around 100-120 Euros,....not much really.....I have been promising myself to get one !

I have seen them in France,but never in the US and I have look .I have seen the Russian type .I have a friend in Meuse argonne that was sell some for 65Euro but the chipping was crasy.

I'm not much into WW1 but you guys be careful when buying such shields over ebay: i know there are plenty of fakes made in Czech Republic. The armour shield worn by the Ardito is a fake one

You are correct about the sniper shield,but we were talking about the trench shield that type is not been reproduce.(the flat one)
