The MI 9 unit located in India was very impressed with the 43 series of Europe so MI 9 in London offered to produce a large number of similar cloth maps covering Southeast Asia. Accordingly, in 1944, a like series of maps was produced with identical colors and scales. These were also composites of existing International Maps of the World sheets. There are eight cloth map sheets each identified by the prefix 44 followed by an upper case letter, I am missing two maps (C/D and R/S)

This map is enormous to the extent that it is barely useable as an escape map. It measures 42'' x 33'' and is 'plasticy' in construction which makes it very difficult to fold and unfold. It is shown with map 'M' from the same 44 series for size comparison
A 'Survey of India' escape map. The Survey of India was established in 1767 by British East Indies Company to fulfill the survey and map needs of the British Empire of India. This one is marked "Heliozincographed at the E Survey of India Offices." and has the code HIND 1054.
The USAAF produced their own maps for the South East Asia Theatre of war.
