I was joking. Bombay bloomers it is then and I think these can be found quite cheaply, in fact I saw some a pair a while back in one of the dealers in Cardiff, so I will check that out next time I am down that way. I have a webbing pistol holster stained brown, so a webbing belt it will probably be, though a cap is something I do not have and might take some finding.

Good question. The only answer I could give is "probably", but I'm sure there must have been occasions where Guards officers wore regular pips and general service buttons.

I noticed a complete uniform group to a REME officer recently, and among the items is a set of GS buttons, as well as a KD (one of two) with a set of REME dogs & buttons etc...So it seems that in his case, he had GS and unit marked buttons.

Also, from further research, I read that KD tunics might have unit marked, general service, plain metal, cloth covered, plastic or knotted buttons. Seems like anything goes!
