need help with a airborne patch

Article about: the jacket was a atthefront.com reproduction when they where still made in the US which i am using for my reenacting now if it was original i would have left it on now the thing i have to do

    i was wondering if this is patch is real what year it would be from and what it is exactly

    The patch is genuine WWII, but it's U.S. Fifth Army, with what looks like a repro
    or hand-made tab above it. 5th is Not Para.........!

    hmm thats weird it came off of a recanters jacket i wish i knew who the guy was so i could ask why it had the paratrooper tab over it do u have any idea why it might be there do you have any idea why the tab would be on there and maybe if it was wwii or maybe just something new

    The 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion - Trooper Pictures
    some of the pictures they have the patches on there arms you can also look it up in google im still not sure if my tab is original but would love to find out if there is a way too its also 509th parachute infantry battalion
