Patch 101

Hi, I am interested in buying this patch. In the store I have been informed that it is an original type 2 patch of the WW2. I've looked at the Mark Bando classification, and I think so, but I have to be absolutely sure. Someone can give me their opinion.

Hi Jose

Unless you get them out of a dated box , there is no absolute. The patch and tab could be put together well after the intended date of wear, as in most cases including my 2 piece 101.

Depending on price I would put in my collection as a 40's era SSI, the average these days for a known standard WWI era 101 is about $US100 (type 1 only) with matching tab,all other types anywhere up to 450.

I do not know, I have many doubts. My knowledge about these issues is scarce, and I have already suffered several deceptions. What do you think?

The Collector's Guild has an 82nd Airborne with Tab for 89$, I'd trust them.

No have not brought off him but I know others have and have had no complaints.

One point I would like to make , all dealers can have items marked incorrectly , does not matter what nation or side you collect , so always ask if there is a return policy if you are not happy.

Always do your research and ask questions , try not to impulse buy , so there you go, I saved you $US200 my fees will be in the mail!!!

It's AB Insignia he's got a shop in St Mere Eglise,Normandy his prices are a bit ! There's a couple of guys in the UK , the American Badge company & Blunderbuss Antiques, they're good guys !

But do they know the difference between a 1944 or a 1954 produced 101 made by the same manufacturer , using the same schiffli process?
Many dealers(in the US), I would of thought should have the knowledge and experience ,still label a 1950's 101 WWII on their sites !! The good ones only put 101 and leave it to the punters to figure it out.
