    Ohh, me too.
In fact, I went for a test ride on an old Guzzi 350 this summer.
The seller was very hungry, but in the end I backed out.
There was a slight murmur from the engine that neither I nor my friend (who has forgotten more about these, that Ill ever know) liked.
Anyway, Id like a slightly bigger machine (either at least a 500 or a Le Mans).
I want to convert a bike to a cafe racer, but am at odds what to buy.
Always a gamble buying old/used machines and further more I havent deceided which direction to go.
I have always had a soft for Guzzi's, an old Le mans as you mention, or if we are talking old Italian irons, a Ducati 900 SS (from the 70's), or a Laverda Jota, the original UK pimped spec version by Slater Bros or an SFC 750, drooling just at the thought of any of these.
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.

    Agreed. All of the above.
They simply have a certain 'Je ne sais quios' that only Ialian bikes have and which can not be replicated.
I likewise thought about a Duc, but a Monster for the Cafe Racer project.
A Ducati 1199 Superleggera or a Agusta 'Agostino' signature edition wouldnt be too shabby either, but thats of course a different era and beast altogether.

I almost bought a 900 monster a few years back, but bought something else instead, probably more militaria.

.....speaking of unobtainable bikes - Agusta 'Disco Volante.'
I want one of those - fat chance of that ever happening.

Wonderful idea Nick - great opportunity for a memorable experience (which is always so much better than flowers and a meal).

Hope that you both enjoy it!
