    Those things area dime a dozen, it's worth whatever they are paying for scrap brass.

    btw, the 72 on the base is the year it was made.

    Also:
    B17's & B25's etc never used that type of starter... & they are radial engines, not rotary.

    Very simular if not identical to the ones we use in hawker hunters, unfounatly not particully valuable probablly wont be more than 10 on ebay (last on i saw went for 7.50 i think)

    I have one of these, My grandfather was a civi-worker at RAF Marham in Norfolk he had three polished examples on his mantelpiece. I know they were used to start aircraft engines. At the time 1950-60's V Bombers were stationed there and I assumed it was to start them, however now and again Us bombers were deployed on attachment.

    If it's US it would be later than the B-17/25's Maybe Boeing B-29 or Washington B.1 but I suspect it was used on British V bombers or Camberra.

    I was told in was from a Camberra.

    Thanks that seems about right, Canberra's were at Marham when my granfather worked there.
