Article about: Coffmann/Kaufmann/Breeze starter cartridge - hope it's inert or spent

    Default Need help: what is this aircraft item.

    I was told this was from a military aircraft really do not know anything about it and would like to sell it.
    what country?
    what is the value?
    what aircraft?
    what is it use for?
    any info.

    looks like a rotary engine starter cartrage probably american ian
    mitchel,fortress type of plane

    i supose you will have to search the net for us rotary engines ,or something like that, or B17 B25 engines perhaps
    basically its just a big blank cartrige that turns the engine over fast enough to start it.
    i know how and why it works but it would take a lot of typing to explane it to you cheers ian

    You might also try asking on the BOCN forum. Search for British Ordnance Collectors Network, some very well informed chaps on there. Hope it helps.

    It looks like a RAF Canberra starter cartidge, does it have somthing like Cart Elec Eng or similar on the base? I posted some info on this on the forum somewhere. There were also some photos of others.
