Beautiful Planes!!!!
I have been in that Lanc, if it is the same one, I was an instructor at the Officer tarining school at Cranwell and used to eat breakfast with the pilot of it most mornings. I have also flwon it the Sally B, the B17 they used in the film. It came to RAF Honington from the USA for an open day we were having. My Flt were guarding and patroling the Aircraft fo rthe weekend. Being the boss man a the time I got offered a Flght when they took it for a test circuit, I felt really honoured, fantastic experience

Hi Nick, nice photos. It must have been great to get inside the Lancaster.
Cheers, Ade.
Fantastic! Its great to see such famous and important aircraft preserved in flying condition. Thanks for sharing these.

Here are a couple more- the rear gun:
The view from inside looking toward the tail gunner's postion:
And the view inside looking toward the cockpit:
It is quite a cramped & equipment filled space- I cannot imagine what it would have been like trying to bail out should the airvraft be making an uncontrolled descent.
We had a veteran Lancaster pilot come round to visit on friday- when he was asked if the Lancaster brought back any memories he replied 'Yes, but no good ones.' A sobering thought.
I recall reading once of a Lancaster tail gunner who was trapped inside his cubicle when the whole assembly was shot off the aircraft. He fell a few thousand feet and landed on a large German haystack and survived.
I don't know if it is true or not.
Johnnie
Hi Nick, do you have any more pics to post? I seem to recall you saying the Lanc had been back again this summer?
Cheers, Ade.
