Default Wright Patterson Air Force Base - USAF Museum

Many of you have posted some GREAT museum photos which I have greatly enjoyed, and I wanted to return the favor with some shots of the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio. For this who haven't had the chance to visit this museum, here are some photos. It is by far the best Aircraft Museum in the United States, even beating out the Smithsonian, which is superb also. You can spend a full day and still not see all of the aircraft they have, and the B-17 Memphis Belle is being restored here for display. Once that is done, my understanding is that the current B-17G will be moved to Udvar Hazy (Smithsonian Annex) near Dulles Airport in Virginia, and the Belle will take her place at Wright Pat. This museum covers aviation in the USAF from the beginning up through current day, and includes Nuclear Deterrent displays from the Cold War era. I had many photos, and sorry about them not all being in order… I am still figuring this posting thing out. I hope those who have an interest in military aircraft enjoy these and maybe get the chance to visit this museum. If you attend the SOS in Louisville Kentucky, it is a short drive away.

The W-P Museum is, indeed, a fabulous and bewilderingly huge museum! It's been a long time since I've been there and I see it certainly hasn't shrunk in size any since! As stated, you could Easily spend the entire day from opening to closing and still not cover but a part of all the exhibits to see. It is, without a doubt, one of the finest military museums in the World. I noticed that the Doolittle silver cups in the display when you photographed them still had 8 upright cups, but this has, sadly, now diminished to 4. They just this year announced that they will do no more reunion toasts. Time marches on, as always.... But, if anyone Ever gets a chance, they must definitely schedule a visit to the W-P! It is, in a word, breathtaking!

That was fantastic!!!!! I thought the inverted Biplane was a great one, then I saw the Pilot in training getting his butt chewed for the crashed trainer. But the one that meant the most was the German Box car filled with american airman on their way to a Stalag for the rest of the war. Something my Uncle had to experience. You took some fantastic pic's
    Thank You for sharing.

I'm still mystified as to How he got 90 photos posted?? I experimented with a thread once and couldn't get more than a dozen or so to post without having some vanish...
