An award in relic condition such as this will never polish back to it's original state. More than likely you took off the remaining finish and it's gone back to the base metal. If you have a relic award, it's best to leave it as it is and try to prevent further deterioration.

Vielen Dank Adrian... iīve learned my lesson.. didnīt know that those awards had a finish.. But what kind of metal does look white instead of "metallic"? Zinc maybe ??

Zinc can look white and almost powdery as it breaks down. All zinc medals and awards had a finish at some point, the trouble is, it gets absorbed by the metal over time which is why you find zinc awards which are completely bare and down to the base metal.
I think some were plated before a finish was applied so you might find a secondary colour metal on top of the zinc. If a relic badge is like this, cleaning will remove the finish and the plating.
