Default General Assault Badge in Bronze?

    Hey guys,
Was the General Assault Badge ever issued in a mint bronze version? I have never heard of this. I thought they were all silver...could be a phoney I guess.

Hi, they were all silver. I would say the one you show is toned silver. I am not 100% sure it is actually original. I will leave that one to the specialists.

However, having said that, I know my forum friend Bob Hritz acquired one with a bronze finish from a US Veteran. He summised this was either: a prototype, or a factory error or a badge made for sale as a very early postwar GI souvenir item.

But there was never an officially made grade in bronze.

    Cheers, Ade.

It looks like a correct JFS badge with the typical scooped back and riveted pin assembly. The pin components - like the rivet plates -could be brass alloy and hence have a dull bronze tinge in the photo. Otherwise, right, the badge is silver - or should be.

I'm not aware of the state of fakes of this maker's badges. So, as stated, authenticity must be determined by another.

Hi Eric, thanks for confirming my suspictions on this one. I never give an opinion unless I am 100% certain in my own mind. I had a doubt about this one.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi there, sorry it's a total fantasy piece. As the boys said there was only a GAB,no bronze. Josef Felix Sohne (JFS) only made numbered GAB's. Stewy
