American Fighter off Wales

Article about: Hi guys, my opinion on restoring this is quite the opposite! Why restore it? It wont be the same plane? Keep it as a relic & maintain it to stop it rotting anymore. No-one finds a degrad

    The outline is that of a Douglas A-26/B -26 'Invader' or a
    Northrop P-61 'Black Widow' night fighter.

    P-38's have a smaller cockpit fuselage.

    Looks P38 to me, the wing tips can only be P38,and the cockpit
    location is spot on.
    A-26, B26 , P61 have more squared wing tips,and are much bigger
    airframes.

    I guess there are guys over there who have already ID'd it.
    I thought that the cockpit area was a little too far forward at first glance.
    ( The one in Alaska is in far better shape ! )

    hi guys if definatly a p-38
    theres been on going controversy about this
    an avation group (TIGHAR) have put in an aplication to recover it but its theres been little or no noticable progress and as they have been granted the licence there are alot irriate alot of enthusiast!
    theres plently more info on the web and other forums if you interested in knowing more!

    Yeah, the wingtip shape is wrong for the Invader or the Black Widow- both are more broad and square; this ones' are narrow and more rounded and the P38 is the only plane that fits
    Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

    Hi, what great pics and I hope it is dealt with properly. Where in Wales is it? I'm from Wales, though I now live in Holland.
