Thanks for posting we'll watch this story with great interest, what a beauty that plane is.
LUCKYSTRIKE
The outline is that of a Douglas A-26/B -26 'Invader' or a
Northrop P-61 'Black Widow' night fighter.
P-38's have a smaller cockpit fuselage.
Regards, Steve.
Looks P38 to me, the wing tips can only be P38,and the cockpit
location is spot on.
A-26, B26 , P61 have more squared wing tips,and are much bigger
airframes.
Regards Mike
What are they going to do with it?
hi guys if definatly a p-38
theres been on going controversy about this
an avation group (TIGHAR) have put in an aplication to recover it but its theres been little or no noticable progress and as they have been granted the licence there are alot irriate alot of enthusiast!
theres plently more info on the web and other forums if you interested in knowing more!
regards Mad.ideas
Yeah, the wingtip shape is wrong for the Invader or the Black Widow- both are more broad and square; this ones' are narrow and more rounded and the P38 is the only plane that fits
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
hopefully it can be recovered and restored to it's former glory.
