a couple of years ago i heard of a covenanter buried at denbies vineyard in dorking but did nothing about it until january this year when i hired a proton magnetometer and went down with my mini digger to have a shufti. i had a very good idea where the tank was due to a friend having done his own mag survey 12 years ago. anyway we ascertained the position and started digging. after half an hour we found it.
the vineyard commissioned a guy to film it.

Now that is a digger's dream. Great find!
Thanks for the video and I look forward to seeing what condition it is in when you get it pulled out.
Is there a time frame for this to occur?

I think this is already out of the ground, back in June I think, as there have been some pictures and possible video clips posted on Facebook.

a friend came down with his corbitt wrecker and winched it out. unfortunately once it was out i had to leave it on the track and go back to manchester for a family emergency.
i came back again a week later and with the help from the same guy again (ian hughes) and his insane american forklift. we got the tank moved half a mile down the track to the main buildings and did a quick resto on it

    Thanks Eddy.
So where is the turret. Did it have one on it?

The chalky soil required to ensure good drainage for the vines undoubtedly help preserve the hull to a reasonable degree. I assume the terroir is excellent? Lol.
