So I wonder if this plane can be seen on Google Earth? I know swamp ghost the B17 in Papua New Guinea was visable. Anyone know exactly where it was? I really hope that it has been moved by the El Alamein Museum. Destruction by the hand of tourists is no way for a warbird to be treated.
Here is a satellite image of before and after, the co-ordinates are not available for Opsec reasons...

But seriously, the airframe HAS been recovered by 'English speaking official specialists' as they say, and is now safe!

Wow that thing really blends in unless you know what to look for! Now if we can just confirm the remains as Denis Copping, or identify the ones found and then find Copping. Hopefully another MIA can be returned home and laid to rest.

    ***BUMP***
A couple of months have passed since Ned advised of it's recovery - any further news on man or machine?

Still sub rosa Dan, but things are apparently under way and our people are on the ground over there. These things take time more often than not.

    Regards, Ned.

    UPDATE:

This article has appeared today. Take most of it with a pinch of salt, especially the pictures that are misleading, and the plain out of date ones when compared to the wreckage of the P-40 when it was eventually recovered.

The interesting part concerns the human remains that have been ignored and left buried in the desert......apparently. There is a lot more yet to come out regarding this aspect of a sad and remarkable story, expect more news soon!

    Regards, Ned.

I can not understand the attitude of the MoD absolutely. But I can understand Mr Bennett’s disappointment absolutely.

This can be read in the article:

”The MoD told Mail Online it had told the family the remains were unlikely to be Copping's because no military clothing was found on the body and it was miles from the scene of the crash.”

Have the Mod ever heard about the tragedy and story of the Lady Be Good and the circumstances of discovery of her crew?

…and it was miles from the scene of the crash.
    - Guy Shelley could walk the farthest, 132 miles!!!

…no military clothing was found on the body…
    - When they found their bodies – after 15 years – most of their clothes had rotted.

Poor explanation. MoD should study the documents about it.

the truth is the MoD don't give a s--t,it's all inconvenant for them.
