Re: Found this turret this weekend in California
Its in Benicia...I am thinking now that it may be a Neptune nose turret as someone sent me a close up of a nose turreted Neptune and it looks very much like it...

Beat me to it! A museum I was a member of had a Neptune turret and this looks very familiar.
Good picture here on Flikr: Emerson Nose Turret!
Still a nice find though

Re: Found this turret this weekend in California
Cool find! That's a St. Louis built Emerson Turret Division Aero-9. Not sure what model A, B, or C but it was likely on the nose of a P2V Neptune but maybe one of the few Mercators that were built. What happened with this turret? I'd sure be interested in acquiring this turret for our museum here in St. Louis. I've got about 8,000 Lbs of turret parts I found in a salvage yard warehouse here in St. Louis. I've got a bunch of parts for that Aero-9. What happened with this find? Here's a link to some of the turret parts I've IDed so far.
