The extentions were known as "Ostketten". They were a special wider track developed for use in winter on the Eastern Front.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Dimmas,
This is the same Stug as the one i refered too therefore must be of a certain area.It sound's to me like you are Russian and know a great deal more than me of the layout of town's.It was alway's called the Demjansk Stug so that's why i called it that but i remember the correct term in discription of event's at the time that is was found NEAR Demjansk. That could be anywhere within a 100 mile radious as far as i know and i would be interested in exact location if you can help.
If you take a look at my album on this in my profile you will see i have the Radio and rack from it. I got the item's from a guy in Riga who does battlefield dig's and he bought it direct from the original guy's who recovered the Stug.Do you know them?

Well i stand corrected but at least i can blame the original blog owner's.I will not refer to it as the Demjansk Stug anymore but kind of liked the sound of it.Will have to do more research on Russian map's:-/

    Thank's Dimas,
Maybe why they called it Demjansk but still they should be more accurate. Will take a look at your Map link.

    Indeed a Great find.
A question of more help...there are lots of photos of the T-34 with German markings being pulled out of the swamp. But wasn't there another posting, where several years ago they found an another T-34 and a smaller tank in a bog as well? Fully combat loaded and plop! down in the mud, lost for 60 some odd years. But this posting actually showed them starting the engine. Does anyone have links to that? I have a friend I told him about it and now I'd like to prove it.
