    Default Identifiyng a pistol-like object

    Hello

A few years ago I randomly stumbled across this relic that at first glance looked like a pistol, although there are many structural features that rule this out. It doesn't have a magazine and there's a long spring all along what would be the barrel. There appears to be a muzzle protector (?) or something put in the barrel.
Possibly a flare gun of some sort?

Looks like a flare gun to me. The front portion looks like the hinge where the barrel would pivot when it was opened. Like a shotgun

Lol - I own the 'Premier' model in the pic above. I believe
they are from the 60's, or possibly earlier.

My guess is that with MK1004's relic, the barrel section
( upper tube ) broke off and the frame portion simply
discarded. You'd unlatch the barrel which becomes
the 'cocker', pulling it forward to compress the
spring. It's not a very sturdy mechanism.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yes can see how this could easily break, especially in the hands of a youngster.
